Residents of Maury County Tennessee and members of the Maury County Democratic Party (MCDP) responded this weekend to the recently unveiled Senate Health Care Bill by releasing a video to their public Facebook page . In an effort to educate other residents and voters about the consequences that will result if the bill is passed, the video features several people sharing personal stories and experiences they’ve had prior to the passing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and their fears if the new bill, the American Health Care Act (AHCA), is passed into law.
Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, is seeking to get the bill pushed through to a vote before the July 4th recess. Opponents of the bill are concerned that will not give them enough time to discuss, evaluate, and critique the potential law, which seeks to deeply cut Medicaid services, allow providers to deny patients with preexisting conditions, defund Planned Parenthood, and give states the option to decided whether or not providers are required to cover patients who suffer from mental illness or addiction.
The MCDP hopes viewers will like and share the video on their social media platforms as well as call their state representatives, encouraging them to not support the bill, or at least encourage them to delay the vote until after the July 4th recess.
