Wm. Mark Orman was born and grew up up in Alabama where his mother and her entire extended family were active in state and local politics throughout their lives. His earliest memories are of political rallies, carrying signs and flags in rally parades, and of meetings, dinners and parties supporting the family’s current candidate.
He has a B.S. Degree with majors in history and elementary education and a minor in speech and drama in 1980. In addition, earned a Ma.Ed. In education in 1997; all of these from the University of North Alabama. In 2002 he earned a second master’s degree in educational leadership (administration) from Trevecca Nazarine University.
He has three children ( John, Virginia, and Victoria) and one grandchild( Madelynn). He is a history teacher at Columbia Central High School where he is the sponsor of the Student Council, Prom Chairman, Homecoming Chairman and through the 2016-2017 school year, the Co-ed Football Cheer Coach.
He is a member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church where he is the Acolyte Master, the Master of Ceremonies, member of the flower guild, has been chairman of VBS, has taught Sunday School, and is currently serving as a member of the Vestry.
He has been a member of the Maury County, Tennessee, and national Education Associations. He has represented our county on the state level and our state on the national level for the last 27 years and is currently President-elect of the Maury County Education Association.
